oh no... not again

Lucy hadn't planned on a party while the paint job was going on, but the boys had helped bring Gage up to the flat. She supposed it was a lot like babysitting. She could tell from the look on Gage's face, he thought so.

"You really need to find..a hobby." She told him as she got out a few things while Lux was down for a nap.

He winced then as if he didn't think he knew what that was.

"Lets see what you like to do." She got out the sketch pad and some pencils. He held it like she showed him, except so tight. His grip wouldn't budge.

"You're gonna hurt yourself." She smiled. But he gritted just the same as if this was too much work.

"Relax."

He took a deep breath, but he held on hard to the pencil.

"Think of it..as getting to know the pencil. Like a dance. Just move it around on the paper." She instructed. As timid as he was, she saw that he noticed it was easier than the expected.

"You're pretty good at that." She told him. "Did you ever draw..from before?"

"No." He shook his head. "Don't believe so."

"You, are such a mystery." She told him. She went to get him some lemonade and cookies then. "I have a confession to make." She finally said. He put his pencil down as if their little drawing session was over. "This will sound crazy, but then again, I'm a wee bit crazy. Not a lot, I guess..but still." She rolled her eyes, trying to figure out how to put it in perspective. "I used to talk to you a lot. I thought so, anyway."

"How was I then?" Gage was interested to know.

"Like a profound brother." She assured him with a grin.

Gage nodded.

"Granted, you were just a figment of my imagination." Lucy told him.

"What's that?" He winced.

"Its when your creativity goes to a whole new level." She thought, anyway. "But I never had a brother." She knew it was best not to discuss her idea that she'd wanted him for a lover. As it was, that Gage dismissed it soon enough. And he was right. She knew now. "And I so needed one. So, maybe you need a sister now."

Gage nodded as if he understood.

"Do you want to draw, again?" She got out clean paper for a new idea. This time he drew a simple flower. She would have new art for the fridge door, soon enough.
