"See, this is why I can't do it!" Cory fumed to Todd once they got to the basement for a jam session, with the Halloween Bash in mind.
It was all Allie's doing. She didn't want to be in the same room with Sage. Of course, he noticed Sage wasn't alone. She's obviously moved on, the way she was chatting with this so called pretty loser. He imagined. Which he didn't like one little bit. But what could he do about it?
Todd was walking around with his electric guitar strapped to him, ready to play, trying to get everyone situated.
"Allie, you know we need you!" He shouted from the basement. "You know, you want to! You have to! At least one set of songs!"
Cory didn't want to admit it, but Todd was possibly their fierce leader now. He was congenial enough. As it was Allie was still upstairs in the kitchen eating guacamole with Gage. She was being temperamental.
"Well, I could go." Sage shrugged. "I don't have to be here."
"Yes, you do, you know sound." Todd told her.
"I could do it, that night. Its not a big deal." She winced as if she did this all the time.
Todd told Cory he needed for him to play bass. He reluctantly, went to pick up the guitar. Finally, they played a riff or two that wasn't half bad. The music got louder as Benny joined in on the drums.
"We need more people!" Todd shouted. Still no Allie, but Gage ran down the stairs and plopped himself in the middle of it, with a big smile, as if he might be high.
"All righty, then." Todd made light of it as he continued to play.
Cory kept playing, as well. Of course, he couldn't take his eyes off Sage. He missed her. He didn't know how much, until now.
