there are days like this

Ezra was putting the hymnals away at the church. Not only did he help with the music, he sometimes cleaned the church too. Actually, once a week. It was quite in the small stain glassed chapel. Honestly, this late in the afternoon, the place was beautiful as the sun shined through.

He daydreamed about his wedding day here. Of course, he hadn't got up the nerve to ask Sarah how she'd feel about marriage. It wasn't exactly something he brought up. He knew he should. He kept thinking there was no rush. After all, their love was like a gradual thing that moved about as slow as the sun. But maybe things were moving faster than he wanted to believe. Still, he felt caught between a rock and a hard place.

Ezra wasn't quite sure why. Yet, he wanted to get married for all the right reasons. Still, there was the horror that he might have an episode one day, and that would be the end of everything. It was still a touchy subject he didn't dare talk about with Sarah.

"Why didn't you tell me, you, were back!" A voice echoed through the old building. Ezra looked up to see his mother standing on the red carpet of the center isle.

He wasn't sure what to say. She'd been so angry with him, over quitting the music school. Then there were more words of how he wasn't taking care of himself. If he were going to be this way, he could just pay for his own god-damn insurance. So, he'd left home and wandered the streets for the most part. He supposed she did get the bill that last time he'd spent at the hospital. But it was in the psych ward.

"I-I didn't go anywhere." He finally let slip.

He looked around, guessing this was as good a time as any for her to make a scene. She was her strong willed self. Her hair still tied up in a bun, but she looked as if she'd been starving herself, too. Not much changed with his single mother who'd raised him. Of course, he wasn't quite as scruffy. He guessed. Just a little. His suits were from the Church thrift store. He wore, the old gray slacks he'd gotten. He held them up with suspenders. but he was buttoned up in a mauve long sleeved shirt, and a paisley bow tie that Sage made for him.

"I had to find out from my friend Elise, what you were up too. What happened to you?" Her eyes focused on him.

"I'm..I'm OK, Mom." He told her. "I..I live with...with some friends, um. Sorry..sorry I didn't call." He was sure she'd had enough of him. He hadn't tried to bother her. He knew she had a lot to take on with the firm she worked with. She might not have been a lawyer, but she should have been.

"You've made me sick with worry!" She snapped.

"I know." He came closer. "I figured as much. But its OK. You don't need to worry." Ezra sighed. He knew he was damned if he did or he didn't, when it came to his mother. He supposed he could tell her about Sarah.

I like that he knows it is hard, but he is still willing to talk to his mom.

I think Ezra is such a good guy. I'd really love to see Robbie play a part like that.
