a friend indeed

Ka-Rad didn't want to get off on the wrong foot with Ali, after all she was Benny's friend. He was going to make an effort to get to know her. He did hope they could be friends with Benny one day.

"So, you and Benny." Ka-Rad didn't know what else to say. He'd seen her around before.

"Just friends." She was a bit indifferent as if he was there to judge just how many cookies she might put in her mouth.

"Good. Um, you like their music." She shrugged as if maybe she did, but didn't now.

"What do you think, would sell?" Ka-Rad was being serious as he whipped up the dip for the veggies.

"What?" She scowled as she moved a piece of broccoli away from her.

"There music? Should it be more pop or just authentic rock?" He was serious.

"I dunno." Her dark eyes glared at him that he was an idiot for asking. Ka-Rad started washing up to keep everything clean in the kitchen then. She was a bit indifferent, but perhaps she had to be. He didn't know. She seemed a be hard around the edges. She was not a big marshmallow. How on earth had Benny let her into his calloused life.

"Do you sing?" He asked as he rinsed out a dish and put it in the drainer.

"Kind of." She shrugged.

"Great." Ka-Rad smiled. "You should sing for them. You know. You just might be the secret ingredient they need."

He almost got a smile out of her then.

"If-if you need someone to do your hair sometime, I'm-I'm sure I could find some time to do it." Ka-Rad offered then. He could see with those split-ends, it had been awhile.

Ali just nodded. She dried a dish then. He guess they might make friends, after all.
