out there somewhere

Ka-Rad was the last person Benny expected to see down at the comic book store. As it was, there was no business in the store. They were practically alone.

"I need to talk to you." Ka-Rad was a bit more rigid than usual. Naturally, Benny gave him a shrug. He didn't know what to say. He didn't want to apologize. After all this time, he just didn't think of Spencer anymore. After all, Ka-Rad was suppose to have been his boyfriend. He'd seen him first. And well, that was history now. Wasn't it?

"All right, just listen." Ka-Rad looked him in the eye. Benny stood there with his arms crossed behind the counter. "I think its time you and..and Spence made up."

"I got nothing to say to him." Benny barely spoke.

"Look, its not his fault." Ka-Rad sighed. He wasn't dressed up for the occasion. Just jeans, and clean white V-neck T under his fatigued coat. "Its mine. It's all my fault." He squinted then as if he might come to tears. "Everything is my fault. And-and I'm not sure I can fix it. I wish I could, but I can't." He bit at a finger nail then. "I love him. I really do. He makes me happy, and I feel really selfish about all of it, because I know I'm not going to make him happy about this...." He was quiet then. "What I'm asking." And his pale eyes kept staring at Benny as if he hoped to will him to do it..if only he could. "Can you be there for him? Please?"

Benny could hear the mournful tone in Ka-Rad's voice.

"What would you need me for?" Benny wasn't exactly the one, you called to lean on. Not with Spencer.

Ka-Rad let out a breath then. "Lucy's pregnant." He said rather quickly. "And I have to be there for her. I do. I can't think it would be forever, but I'm hoping it works its self out. I guess. I hope. I don't want to leave Spencer. I don't. Its just." He squinted hard then as if he were really mad at himself and no one else. "I have a responsibility." He turned and walked away then. Benny festered a frown. This was the strangest conversation he'd ever had with the dude.

I like that line ," I have a responsibility."

It just sounds so good.

But hopefully the two will make up. Fights and such are never good for anyone.

This is a lot for Benny to take in.

I'm glad he talked to him, but Benny is pretty stubborn.

Todd was brave to talk to Benny. But I'm not sure he'll be any help.
