in the stacks

Benny didn't want to talk about himself, but he needed to talk so someone. And that someone was Ali.

"So. What have you been up to?" He asked her when she met him at the library. She'd been in the computer lab. He'd noticed as he walked around looking at new magazines and typing in various titles at the pacs to see if they had any good Andre Norton reading.

"Not much." She kept what ever it was, to herself.

"I bet." He gave her a dead stare.

"Just don't worry about me. I'm taking care of myself." She winced. "What's up, with you?" They walked around in the nonfiction for awhile as if that might inspire him to tell the truth.

"I met someone." He looked back at Ali to see if she were following him.

"And?" She bumped into his butt then as he'd came to a complete stop.

"I dunno what to do." He closed his eyes. It was as if Keith's kiss was on the touch of his lips. He'd never had anything quite that good before. It was like sugar. His lips were beautiful. Benny still couldn't believed it had happened that night at the bar. Well, they weren't in the bar. Outside the bar. In the shadows to be exact. He couldn't see him. He didn't have too. His heart tugged a little then. This was not suppose to be happening to him. He'd avoided both love and lust like the plague.

"Well, the more you starve yourself, the worse it'll get." She reminded him, but she was whispering now.

Benny slightly scowled. He was afraid of that.  He licked his bottom dry lip. It was all so cool. It made him slightly shiver. He so wanted to see Keith again. But his throat was so parched too. Keith didn't need him because Benny definitely didn't know what he was doing.

"You're tough enough." She prodded him along. They were making their way to the psychology section.

"What?" He didn't understand.

"First, you have tell yourself, no matter what, it'll be OK, whatever happens. And you can live with that. Whatever the case might be. Like if he burns you bad, you don't look back. You just seize the day. And you learn from it. OK? You make sure you learn something. Got it." Her dark eyes looked into his as if she might hypnotize him, if he watched her long enough.

Benny nodded. He could be brave. Really, it might not last long, once Keith tired of him, but at the moment, he was sexy mad about him. He couldn't help but think it.

"Um, Benny." Ali grinned. "You want me to take care of that, in your pants."

His brow furrowed. He gave her an ugly scowl, found the first book he could find and went to hide.

That last comment that Ali made made me laugh a bit, she is not too sensitive but maybe that is just what Benny needs.

I think Ali is redeeming herself here. I think she has a good point here.
