stop and go
Spencer turned to look then and there he was. But it wasn't Todd. Still there was something striking about him. Spencer couldn't take his eyes off of him. Then the guy with the frizzy hair, smiled at him, as if he were glad Spencer saw him.
"You don't know me, do you?" His smile was open. Spencer guessed he had a fan, maybe.
They shook hands.
"No, I-" Spencer winced. "Should I?"
"I work at No Frills, just down from the comic book place." The lean fellow shrugged.
"Oh." Spencer had to think. It was hard to tell who he was, exactly, other than the fact, he was ..well, interesting. That's what Spencer told himself.
"Gage." He told him.
Spencer introduced himself.
"I had Geometry with you." Gage grinned.
"Really?" Spencer winced.
"I sat behind you." Gage nodded.
Spencer was freezing up then. How had he not noticed Gage before? But that was a while ago. He guessed now.
"I - I was pretty much keeping a low profile, back then." Spencer shrugged.
"So how's your Valentines day going?" Gage wanted to know.
"I'm afraid, this is it." Spencer told him as he looked around. The light came up then. And he saw more of Gage then in the bright lights. Spencer couldn't help but be a bit giddy.
"How about pie?" Gage offered. Village Inn wasn't that far away.
