its kind of a funny story

Casey was still finding his way around Nina's place. He wouldn't admit it, but he'd walked into the hall closet a couple of times thinking it was the bathroom.

"So are you going to ever give up that apartment of yours?" Nina looked at him as if he was hiding something from her.

"Sure." He looked at her as if he was her obedient pet, but really deep down he was thinking, HELL NO. That was his bachelor pad.

At the moment, they were going through her scrapbooks when she was in elementary school. She was dark haired and chunky. But she was in dance suits, some for tap, even a ballerina. Casey couldn't help but yawn.

"You still do this stuff?" He looked at her as if he might be here on a foreign exchange situation instead of the real deal. As it was, he couldn't fall asleep fast, having to sleep on the left side of the bed. He liked the right side because it was near the door. He liked being near the door in case of a fire.

"You're so funny." She leaned over and pinched his cheek.

Casey bit a grin with a happy squint. Although, she was a little rough. Right now, in bed. She'd already scratched him with her big toe-nail on the calf of his leg. He was studying her toes nails right now, thinking how could he possibly clip her toe nails. Nina was dangerous. He didn't care much for vegan wraps, either. He so wanted a hamburger. A bowl of cornflakes would do, but she didn't have any real milk, either.

A part of him felt as if he was being held here against his will. He was homesick for his little place. It wasn't until now, he realized how much he loved being alone.

"My parents are flying in this weekend." She informed him as they cuddled. Somehow, she had a way of holding him too tight.

"Really?" He thought maybe she didn't have any. She'd never brought them up, until now. He really didn't think it was necessary to bring up his grandmother. He guessed he could, but seriously, he wasn't sure this marriage was going to last until the end of the week.

"See, here's my Dad." Nina pointed a picture of some dark haired man. Perfect teeth. That smile was so damn familiar. Casey couldn't quite think where he'd seen it before. He looked at Nina's full lips. No, that wasn't it.

"I can't hardly wait to meet him," Casey said as if he were suppose to say. He got up then to go to the bathroom. Or just to take a breather from all this togetherness. He switched on the light, and looked at himself in the mirror. He looked at his face wide eyed, rubbed his forefinger with his chin. He faked a smile, but lost it quickly. Casey stared at himself even more. He looked a whole lot like her Dad.

I gotta laugh. But I know, it wouldn't be funny. Actually.
