Where was all this kindness coming from? Keith faked a smile. He didn't believe a word Benny's mother said. Yet, she seemed to be hanging on to him for dear life as he was helping Benny get his stuff to take to his place.
"You, American Boy." She pointed out. He looked down at her, thinking couldn't she call him his given name, instead of labeling him. "You too good-looking for own good." Her Korean sound carried over even more as he listened closely. It sounded like a warning which he wasn't prepared for. He just wanted Benny to come with him. Leave it all behind, if he had too.
Keith felt he should have stayed behind, but he wanted to make sure Benny came with him. No hold ups. No change of mind. He had to be here for Benny. After all, they were in love. The kind of love he never knew he could exactly have..until now. This was for the long haul. He was devoted to him.
"You hurt him. I cut you." And she didn't mean a scratch on the cheek or his arm. She was talking about something else.
Keith looked at her scared. He nodded. He believed her. She'd certainly let him bleed to death. He didn't want to think what she might do to him.
"My only boy, you know." She was certainly ominous. "You treat him well. Got it?"
"Yes." Keith choked. He called for Benny, who was somewhere in that dungeon of a basement of his mother's. "Benny, I think ..we should go....now.." He had to get out of there before he got hurt.
