Sarah was at her desk. Minding her own business. She felt especially sexy today in her little black number. She'd thrifted it some time ago, but never felt quite like wearing it, until today. Some special occasion, but what? It was warm out. For one thing. Yes, she was going to pencil in some days, to take off. First she'd have to talk with Craig. They needed a vacation. Maybe the beach.
Soon thoughts of Cameron haunted her. It wouldn't quite be like that with Craig. It was always so damn easy with Cameron. With, Craig it was work. It was all these doubts... if she'd put on the right lip gloss for the day? Or had she done enough running in place on the tread mill to look..radiant..perhaps..for him?
Yes, she didn't want to think any of this bothered her much. Seriously, though, when he looked at her..what did he really see? Did he like it? It felt like a script being played in her head. What if he was the one who was more gay than she was?
Not that she'd ask. She couldn't. Because, it was perfect. The two of them. Together. It was just...
He never said anything. Nothing giddy as it was, once upon a time with Casey. Yes, he was her first, and they were always laughing about the most ordinary things. It was a sweet time. She never discovered anything quite like it with any other guy. It left her miserable now. Thinking she was all wrong for Craig. All wrong. It was her. Not him. And she couldn't let it slip out about her girlfriend now. One who would never breathe a word of it. Might as well have been a figment of her imagination.
She tried not to think of anything, but work. Only the feds showed up. The locals showed up, as well. She would have thought they might break out in a song from Guys and Dolls. But she was wrong. They asked her name. One small yes, lead to more questions. She was almost in a trance, until the cuffs came down tight. Sarah thought she might break in two. They were there for her arrest.
