say it ain't so

Cory looked at the Vans Warped tour dates. He wished he was on tour with any of these bands. What he'd give to even be a band roadie. Of course, he was his own band roadie when it came to his band. Of course, what band? He wondered now. He was very disconcerted with the bunch.

He couldn't stay mad at Spencer. After all, he did feel bad for Gage. But the rest of the bunch, couldn't they get out of this dismal mode of theirs and get some summer action going? Wasn't like he was looking for a record deal, exactly. Although, that would be nice.

It was just the guys needed to get their act together and practice for God's sakes.

"Maybe you and me could do it." It would be Ali's bright idea that the two of them could fend for themselves on stage. "I can help with the base line. I know a thing or two about it. We don't need them." She promised.

She brought him more hot coffee as he got off his laptop and put on his uniform. He'd gotten on, down at Jiffy Lube, doing oil changes mainly. His grandmother had gone to visit her sister in Wisconsin so they had the place to themselves.

"I wouldn't know where to start." The gig down at the club had fizzled out. They were looking for something that only old motorcycle dudes would listen too. It was true, the Freaknoids were falling apart.

"We need a new audience. Maybe underage shows, you know." Ali thought.

"I dunno." Cory really didn't. He was starting a new job, he should stop thinking he was going to make it in the rock business. "We just have to be happy with what we got." Cory was afraid to say it, but the Freaknoids were over.

Sometimes you have to let go of your dreams to make it in the real world. :/
