"I dunno how to talk to her." Todd told Sarah. He brought the baby with him to Sarah's parents. As it was, Sarah's mom took Lux to make over. According to her Mom, Lux was just as good as family here.

"Where's Lucy now?" Sarah winced.

"Home alone." Todd shook his head. "I know. I shouldn't leave her alone. But I can't leave Lux alone with her, either. I'm afraid. I honestly am." He hugged himself tight as if he might be sick of himself. "I dunno what to do. Maybe its me who needs the doctor instead of Lucy."

"You've put this off, far too long." Sarah sighed. "Just take her to the hospital."

"I know she's better. She is." Todd believed.

"But she's hurt herself before, you told me." Sarah reminded him. "And the voices. She was hearing voices."

"I know." Todd tried not to think about Lucy and Gage. Together. It felt as if his heart was ripped out and stomped on. "Its just, I'm trying to make a go of it, with the shop. What was I thinking? Something like that would be possible."

"You have to take her in." Sarah was serious.

"I don't even know if that's possible." Todd blew a breath. "I just need Lux to be here. Tonight, at least."

Sarah told him to go, but to Todd it felt as if he was going deep sea diving in quicksand.
