Todd had a feeling he knew why Ezra might be here. Possibly, it wasn't just a haircut.
"How about a trim?" Todd would barely cut that mop of his that had never had any sort of dye on it. Virgin hair, really, he couldn't wait to get a hold of it.
Ezra sat there staring in the mirror and Todd sprayed his hair down and combed it back. Todd couldn't help but smile. Ezra had a lot of hair, but he could see he liked it in his eyes. Ezra wanted to hide his face.
"There's something I want to ask you." Ezra said ever so quietly.
"Yes?" Todd was doing his best to be professional.
"This brother of yours? Is he?" Ezra looked wide eyed as if he were scared to even want to know.
"Out of the picture. Completely." Todd snipped the dead ends away. "Its really strange, he even got with Sarah in the first place. I mean..if there is anyone who's completely in love with himself, its Craig. I don't even like him, all that much. Kind of a wise ass. Always knows, the answers to everything. Then he goes and gets Sarah in this mess and leaves town. No, Sarah does not need my brother. And I can't see him even wanting to see this baby of his."
Todd hadn't meant to say an ear full. Ezra's pink lips held on to a breath.
"Don't worry so much about him. He's not here. You are, and Sarah couldn't be happier." Todd smiled with approval.
"Huh." Ezra bit his bottom lip as if he was rolling it over in his head. "Its just..I..I don't have a real clue, about her and..Sarah's..well." He squinted hard. "She's out of my league."
"Sarah's gone for all kinds." Todd smiled, thinking it was best to leave out Sarah's ex-girlfriend. If she wanted him to know, she'd tell him. "Just keep coming around. She's gonna need someone there for her. Maybe you'll be her best friend."
"Yeah, maybe." But he sounded sad, as if he wasn't nearly good enough for Sarah.
