"Well, maybe I'll just stay here." Ezra sounded as if needed to be here.

Spencer looked at him wide eyed thinking he would be all alone soon enough. He was used to a big house of people now. It just wasn't fair.

"Did you discuss this with Sarah?" Spencer wanted to know. He heard her going on and on about the house with the beautiful basement. It was like a safe house for a storm. And they'd had a lot of stormy activity lately. The wind. The hail. And some rain. He knew she was excited about this place. She'd even signed the papers with her parents.

Now Ezra was holding the baby while she went to do laundry in the basement.

Spencer eye-balled him. He needed to be honest.

"Its OK if you go." Spencer told him.

"Its..I dunno." His lashes were lovely even if he were in anguish over all this. And Spencer could see he was attached to that baby. "If I stay here, I can manage on my own. She won't have to drive me, everywhere. I don't know what to do."

Spencer could see this was making Ezra sad. Didn't Sarah see that?

"She loves you. She really does. Never seen her love anyone, quite like you." Spencer knew he didn't say a lot. But he'd seen it. "She..she was certain she was going places with that girl... she was seeing, that one time. But that so fell apart. And Craig, well, she knew he was trouble. But you, she really cares about you. She'll work it out with you."

"What are you talking about?" Now Ezra was awake. "What girl?"

Spencer winced hard. Wishing he'd kept his mouth shut. "I can't even remember her name." Spencer tried to laugh it off then. About that time the doorbell rang.
