Love is in the air

Craig felt he'd done his dues. He'd been overseas for a very long time. There was nothing keeping him there, he'd decided after the last top secret mission almost got him killed in a car bomb. Perhaps, he was in a special task force, but it felt more like a solider's life to him, living on the land, sleeping in a sleeping bag. Long nights after night. Not a thing like a James Bond life.

After, he got to Germany and spent several weeks recovering from a few broken ribs and both of his ankles crushed, he knew he wasn't exactly fit for the Marines. If only he could have made it home by Thanksgiving. That had been the plan, but it was a slow go. He knew he should have called, but there was a grave feeling that his brother Todd would have nothing to do with him.

Of course, he hadn't stopped thinking about Sarah and the baby, either. He knew a phone call wouldn't do. As of yet, he'd never even seen his son. Craig couldn't think of a better Christmas than coming home to family.

Except, he'd never really been a family man.

But it hurt when he'd left Sarah. Of course, he'd done it for her. For her freedom. For the baby. She'd never know these things. Even if she did, she wouldn't believe him. He knew it was too late. Yet in his heart, he wanted a fresh start. Especially, with his son.

He'd decided he'd have to win Todd over first so his brother would help him. Help him get back to Sarah, somehow. It was the only simple thing in his head as he hurried home, hoping he had a chance to have a real Christmas with family.

Now the streets were wet. It was cold. He should be used to this mid-west weather. He took his time in the rental car. God knows, he didn't want to call attention to himself. It wasn't like there was a warrant out for his arrest now. Still, he was cautious as he drove toward Todd's shop.

To Craig's surprise the street was packed with cars. And the people were all going to his brother's salon. What could possibly be going on?

Snow fell softly out of nowhere when Craig got out of the car. A chill over took him, but he kept walking. He needed to know what was happening.

I do wonder if he'll call off the wedding, or something.
