its home

Craig was impressed. Cory's basement had all the necessities he'd need. Nice storage too. Actually, he was a little shocked that Cory would offer him a place to stay. After all, he'd practically outstayed his welcome at Todd's. He knew he was getting on their nerves. Besides, Todd was busy with all these weddings. He wasn't sure Todd had time for a haircut, himself, these days.

"I found a job at Fantasies." Craig still couldn't believe that was the name of a gas and convenience store. He guessed it was the Lotto that was big there. At least it wasn't a porn shop like he'd first thought when he saw the want ad in the newspaper.

"Doesn't that place get robbed a lot?" Cory asked as if it were a reminder of what he was getting in to.

"Well, you know, beggars can't be choosers." Honestly, he was happy they'd take him. Of course, it was the grave yard shift. He'd also be in charge of shoveling snow and making sure the gas pumps were in proper order. Maybe something better would come along. Of course, he'd been in a dangerous life already. He knew he'd rather be on that shift, than the practically teenage girl, he was taking over for. She might have been twenty-something, but she looked  fifteen to him, who was showing him the ropes.

He told Cory he probably would never eat dinner with them, due to his schedule. He didn't want to be a bother. Although, he definitely wanted to stay away from the chili dogs where he worked. It was hard to say just what he might eat. He could make do with the microwave in the basement and canned soup.

"Well, we don't want you starve." Cory invited him to eat with them, as if to change his mind.

Craig guessed he could stay. He followed Cory upstairs and Allie had a nice pork loin and stuffing waiting with sweet potatoes and green beans on the side.

Craig felt as if he was coming home to some sort of victory dinner. He couldn't help but smile. Lucy definitely didn't cook this divine.

"I dunno what I did to deserve this much?" He smiled at Allie and thanked her. He looked at the meal with wide eyes. It was a feast. And he was starving.

Aww! I love how they take care of each other! The job might be horrid, but as long as he keeps looking, it might be ok.
