"Hey, you were at that Christmas party, or what ever it was, weren't, you?" Connor knew that guy with the blond curls looked familiar. He didn't really keep up with the names of people that Noah worked with, but of course, he wished he'd remembered this guy's name.
Connor was in the commons at the University and here this dude was buying coffee and drinking it black.
Connor introduced himself even if this guy wasn't exactly giving him the time.
"Why would you want to know me?" River was blunt as he sipped his hot coffee as he walked. "I do not give any favors for those taking my class. If you want extra credit, read a book in French."
"No, no...I don't want extra credit." Connor grinned as he watched River saunter his way into the cold. He was in a gray sweater and chinos. "I went to that party with Noah, and..and I saw you there. You have a boyfriend, right?"
"And...if I do, what's it to you?" River looked back at Connor hard, making him think twice about wanting to be friends.
"I just..." He could see now that River wasn't interested. "I wish we could..like hangout. I mean, the four of us." He felt as if he were stumbling on words to explain himself. "I don't think Noah has that many friends."
Suddenly, River cracked a smile as if he thought it was quite funny. He took another sip of coffee in the cold while Connor wished he'd wore his gloves and his cap with the furry flaps.
"I take it, Noah's never mentioned me." River remarked.
"No, he hasn't." Connor stared at River, feeling he was truly the Freshman on campus. Noah really never talked much about himself, he usually listened to Connor talk about movies and music and video games.
"Maybe you should ask him?" River let it go at that, he was on his way to class.
