little decisions

"Sarah, its gonna be all right." Ezra brought her something to calm her nerves. It was only cold bottled water, but she paced about the kitchen as if this was all his fault, letting Craig see the baby.

"I hate this! What has gotten in to you? You're suppose to be on my side?" She glared at him before she took a sip of water.

"I am. But..but did you see that look on his face? Craig wanted to hold his son." Ezra reminded her. "You have to come to terms, with this. If you fight him, you'll just make it worse. Right now, I think you could be calling all the shots. But you can't get mad."

She fumed as if he was the worst.

"Did you try the dip?" He brought her some veggies and yogurt dip.

"What do you think he wants?" She bit into a carrot as if she didn't really want to know.

"OK, its not like he hasn't given you any money, you know." He reminded her that Todd set up an account for Jake before he was born, and over the months Craig did send money. "He knows he did you wrong. And, deep down, I know he's afraid of you, but Jake..that's different. He wants to know him. You can't deprive him of that."

She kept playing with the broccoli in the dip.

"Maybe you could let him watch Jake every Friday night. At our place." Ezra shrugged. She looked at him as if maybe she could live with that.

"I'll ask about his schedule." Ezra nodded. So he went downstairs where Jake was still in Craig's lap, almost sacked out in Craig's arms.

"How would you feel about seeing Jake on Friday nights?" Ezra guessed Craig could talk to a lawyer about it, but he knew he couldn't exactly afford one, at the moment.

"Well, its just I work on Friday nights." Craig shrugged. "I mean, not until midnight. I wouldn't mind. I wouldn't. Maybe if, you know, tell eleven or so."

"I'm sure we could figure something." Ezra didn't know if this was a real negotiation or not.

"Maybe, maybe he could even stay here," Craig said. "On Friday nights, while you two could, go out."

"That might work." Ezra nodded even if he knew Sarah would want Craig to be at their house with Jake, but he didn't have a car. He guess he'd go upstairs and talk some more about the Jake situation with Sarah. Funny, how they all couldn't be in one room together.

Hopefully, they can come to terms with some sort of visitation rights for Craig.
