like it could happen

Soon enough they were down by the water and a little camp fire was going. Sausages where sizzling and the water lapped up to shore so quaintly. Casey felt like dropping off right now to sleep, but he had Sarah attached to him as if they were in love.

"What is going on?" He asked her later as he was biting into to a bun of smoked and burnt sausage.

"Nothing." She gave him the eye. And took a bite of his meal that he was starving for. Usually, he could never eat before the show, but afterwards he could eat just about anything. They sat down on the makeshift bench.

He looked over to see Lucy sitting between Cory's legs. They were sharing a bottle of beer. It was good to see Cory wasn't squeaky clean. He supposed he did save the show tonight. He just seemed to know how to follow Casey's lead and he was grateful for that.

"Do you like the guy?" Casey asked rather low as he choked down the sausage and bun and was ready for another, but he thought he'd kill his appetite with a lime beer instead.

"I dunno." She was somber. "I was hoping he'd help you, that's all."

"We'll be OK." He shrugged. As it was, he wasn't dying to get on the road. And there was a festival or two he'd heard of that might be easy to get too.

"Yeah, I know." She nodded.

He gave her his lime beer then, and went to find some real brew. He needed a lager, something dark and definitely alcohol.
