snowed in

Cory thought he fell in a vat of cement and now he couldn't move. But he breathed in and out. In and out. He blinked his eyes. In the shock of it, he couldn't even imagine where he could possibly be.

"Ali?" He rose up on his elbows ever so sluggish, but he fell back on his pillow. Its as if he's been sucked into the bed like a vacuum. He sighed, but his chest hurts. His body is so sore. He isn't sure if he's exhausted from the party or maybe its the flu. Probably the flu. Cory is full of sadness. He forgot to call Lucy. He should have called Lucy. He didn't even get her anything for Christmas.

"Hey." Ali comes over him then. Her big brown eyes are warm and beautiful. She gave him a tender kiss. But tears come to his eyes instead. He tried to lift his head but he bumped her forehead.

"Where am I?" He's a little suspicious of her. They aren't at his grandmother's house and certainly not at the boarding house where she stays. But the heater kicked in.

"Its OK. Its just a motel room, close to the club." She shrugged.

"But? How!" He can't figure it out.

"You wanted to." She assured him.

Cory sighed wondering if that's really true. And he wondered if she just got him drunk. Maybe she drugged him. This is totally not like him. But when she touched him, its like he has to know. Know this secret she's keeping from him. How in the world is she keeping him in this deep warm sleep?
