never let you go

Lucy swore on her second look while on the phone with 911...there was no body. It was gone. Disappeared. Perhaps. "Never mind." She told them in the end. But she guessed they didn't listen. Moments later she heard sirens. But she'd hid in the bathroom for awhile. It was finally quiet.

And then she heard someone. Someone was in her father's room.

Lucy went to investigate. Sure enough, as she expected. There he was. Gage.

"Oh, good, I'm glad you came back." Lucy felt self assured that that other thing had only been a figment of her imagination. Not this. Not now. "Well, shall we have tea then?" She grinned so and that's how it started.

Now she ate cold green beans from a can with her fingertips. Gage was mad that he'd forgotten about her diabetes.

"You have to take care of yourself, you know. You can't let him think you're crazy." He whispered in her ear and it left her with his warmth on her neck... so she ate another.

"I wouldn't." She looked back at him. Her secret was safe keeping. Todd would never know he was hiding out here. "I don't want any harm to come to Spence." She looked at him blankly. That was why he had to be here. It was the last place anyone would look.

But she was quite fond of the pudding. It was the real thing, made at the deli with real cream and sugar. But it was gone now. So were the sugar highs that left her in a deep sleep, sometimes. So she was good. She finished the can of green beans without a second thought.

"Its just, I really need some fresh air." She informed him.

"You have the basement stairs to walk up and down. You're fine." Gage promised. He was seeing her to stay fit. The more she walked the easier it would be to have the baby.

"Am I?" Well, she was getting along splendid without Todd around. He was seeing to Spencer a lot lately. Then there was that thing about Sarah that she hadn't quite comprehended yet.

"Oh, you just wouldn't be you, without a few loose screws." Gage chuckled.

"Its good we're friends or I might have to stab you with something." Lucy joked back. As it was, she was fond of his company. She had to admit now, keeping a secret friend was so much better than that annoying one who kept looking for scratches and scars. Todd had no faith in her, at all.
