thinking back

Craig was going to see Sarah, anyway. But he wanted to get there sooner now. After finding out from Todd, what Sarah kept putting off talking about, evidently.

He wanted to say he knew, but he didn't. He felt as if he were too far gone in this mess. There were nights, he stayed awake how he might fake his own death. But he couldn't go through with it.

If only he hadn't gambled his life away. What was wrong with him? If only he could leave that Craig behind, he would.

But Sarah knew none of this about him, and this was no time to tell her now. He just had to think of a way to make it right.

As he stared at her now, he knew she needed to come home. Still he didn't want to take her place in prison.

"I just don't understand why? Why, you're still here." He started. He's hoped the feds would figure out she was not the problem, and let her go. He guessed. It felt as if everything was a stale mate, now. Of course, there was a part of him that wanted her here. Yet, he couldn't go anywhere, either.

And he was suppose to be here telling her about the happy news. Todd and Lucy's baby.

"So how have you been?" He was waiting for her to tell him something, but he knew she wouldn't. Sarah looked so tired.

"Fine." She barely spoke.

He finally pulled up the picture on his phone to show her a picture of Todd and Lucy's baby.

Sarah sat there looking at the phone picture behind the glass window. He saw her tears then. Craig faked a smile. He felt himself falling apart inside. Apart of him wished he were a hit man who could kill everyone of them he owed. But it would just be worse in the end. And it was bad enough, already.
