kind of a homecoming

Casey didn't waste time when he found out Sarah was home. He went over to see her at her parents. Of course, Nina wasn't far behind.

"But don't you have a news segment or something to get too?" He winced.

"This is news." She reminded him once they got out of his truck and were down the winding sidewalk to Sarah's parents ranch style home.

"OH... NO YOU DON'T! She just got released from jail." Casey stopped quick just outside his father's house, which of course, his father didn't know he knew that..either. But..he wouldn't get into that.

"What? Don't we all want to know the truth about what happened to her?" Nina pointed out who was her natural reporter self. She got out her notebook.

"This..this is private. All right." Casey glared at her.

"Why? Why is she so important to you Casey? You've never told me why." Nina was starting to question as she pressed forward as if she'd stomp the information out of him, if she had too.

Casey didn't feel comfortable telling Nina that Sarah was his sister, especially, since Sarah didn't even know.

"She's..she's one of my oldest friends." Casey winced. Obviously, that wasn't enough for Nina.

Suddenly, the front door opened. There was Sarah's Mom to greet them.

"What are you doing here, Casey?" She looked like an older Sarah, a little frumpy, and ready to be a grandmother.

"How is she?" Casey edged past her leaving Nina at the door-step looking as if she were ready to ask a boat-load of questions.

There was Sarah on the couch with her Dad. Casey had to remember that. She seemed much more subdued than Casey expected. He thought she would have looked happier.

"Are you, All right?" He sat down next to her.

"Yeah." She hugged the couch pillow. But then she tossed the pillow away and hugged Casey hard. He felt her warm tears on his shoulder. Casey turned to notice that Nina was watching them very closely. He pulled away. He supposed he should introduce his wife.

OH NO YOU DON'T! (: that was just about my favorite part, it's true though. If I just got released from jail. . . I probably wouldn't have that kind of nerve
