Todd got Sarah and Ezra to Spencer's. He left Lucy home with the baby, because they didn't have the room in the car.
He felt like a chauffeur as he looked in the backseat with Ezra all grins. Infant Jake in his car seat and Sarah on the other side.
"So we're not missing anything?" Todd asked.
"Nope, got the most important thing right here." Ezra assured him. All of Sarah's things were up front with Todd.
"All righty then." Todd smiled back. Now was not the time to discuss Craig with them. He heard from him just after Christmas. Naturally, Craig wondered if Sarah had the baby yet. But he was cut short for time. Actually, Todd was a bit alarmed that he heard bombs in the back ground. Just what was Craig up too?
"If I send you some money, will you make sure they get it?" Craig only had a few minutes to ask.
"Of course." Todd told him. What sort of brother did he think he was. "What do you want me to tell her?"
Craig didn't answer. The phone went silent. Todd wondered if Craig was even alive. It would be devastating to spring such a thing on Sarah now. He would wait and see. This would not be the day he spoke of Craig.
Soon enough they were at the house. It was a little surprise party for all of them. Nina brought a birthday cake, and their were presents from Sarah's parents. It was a tiny gathering. Spencer wasn't even there.
"Has anybody heard from him, lately?" Todd winced. They couldn't possibly be still on holiday, could they?
Gage just shrugged as if it were a mystery.
It was back to cake and ice cream after that. Then everyone watched Sarah open presents while Ezra held the baby.
Todd couldn't help but smile. Ezra seemed to be a natural at this.
