the good and not so good

Sage listened to Sarah talk about the movie, THE VOW.

"You know, she never remembered. She never did." Sarah sounded as if it might be a promise of some kind.

"Still, that couple went on to fall in love again, and have two kids." Sage knew the real answer to this movie. Would that happen with Spencer and Gage?

"Didn't Manny get a hold of their mother?" Sarah asked as she was going to the fridge for one last snack before bed.

Just then, Gage came in, alone. He took off his coat and scarf and found Sage right away.

"So what happened?" Sage took his cold hands.

"Nothing much, River has his laptop back and everything. He's pretty happy." Gage smiled with a shrug.

"It took long enough." Sage thought it was late.

"Well, you know, a few words were said." Gage was all laid back about it now.

"No punches?" Sage eyeballed him then.

"Not a one." He yawned, as he lead her toward the basement. "I shouldn't have even been there. Actually."

"Well, you were the one that started it." She reminded him with a sly smile as they got to their room.

"All right, it was all me. OK?" He plopped down on the bed and pulled her in to him. "Maybe I messed up. Big time. I just thought it was the best thing to do. I was looking out for Spencer, but now I dunno if River was completely on the up and up." He rolled back and put his hands behind his head while she sat at the edge of the bed looking at him, all comfortable.

"What do you mean?" She thought of Declan, instantly, as she got closer to Gage.

"River could be a professor or something, if he worked at it. I mean, not yet, but he could. Dunno, what went wrong. But..." Gage smiled. "He's got Declan now." He pushed one shoe off after then other with his feet. Sage got comfortable next to him. She wanted to say something, else. But it really wouldn't matter what she thought. She wouldn't play this game that Gage was through with.
