Noah got there when the commotion was just about over. He guessed. Sage sped off like a race car driver with Sarah to the emergency room, or maybe it was the express clinic at the grocery store. He wasn't really listening to what was really happening. Other than seeing Spencer holding the baby.
"Wait a minute.." Noah couldn't help to be startled. "Didn't they forget something?"
"No. I'm..I'm taking care of Jake." Spencer was a little defensive about the matter.
"But..but we were going out." Noah remembered he'd called Spence last night. Told him how he was up for some good old homemade chicken and dumplings. Actually, just the dumplings. Just this once Noah might have to have the chicken broth. After all, chicken was his down fall in his vegan lifestyle.
"Well, Sarah needed to see if she could take anything for her allergies." Spencer squinted as if this was more important.
"OK." Noah could deal. "Don't you have a kiddie carrier or something?"
"I dunno. I better just stay home with him. You go." Spencer held on to Jake as if no one could touch him.
"But..." Noah thought this might be a way to get Spencer out of the house. Maybe over to his place. He looked by the front door. There it was. It was a car seat. "Could you put him in that?" He pointed. "We could take him with us."
"I'm not sure its a good idea." Spencer looked at Noah wide eyed as if he were asking far too much.
"You know, you wanna." Noah grinned. "Don't you want to see if we could do it?"
"Sarah would kill both of us ..if..if anything happened to him." Spencer shook his head, no.
"Spence, its just a car ride to this old cafe. It'll be OK." Noah smiled. What could go wrong?
