hoping for a dream

It was like a dream come true. Fergie was happy Sage invited her over. No Benny nor Keith to contend with. Gage picked her up. A part of her hoped they'd forget to bring her back to Keith's house.

"I thought you liked it there." Trevor said after pizza and cake. He sat on the couch while she took up the rest of it with her feet in his lap. The TV was on, but she wasn't exactly watching it. Instead she kept a lingering eye on him.

His lip so plush. Skin so fair. She would have kissed every freckle on his nose if she could, but he didn't seem to notice how much she wanted him.

"Its OK." But she winced a face as if that wasn't completely true.

"You, have your own room?" He'd never been there. It didn't feel like her room. It felt like the guestroom. She knew it was only temporary. As soon as the baby was born, she'd be back home.

She nodded. She missed her laptop, sometimes. There was her phone, but it wasn't exactly cutting edge. However, she could text.

"They are going to get you a phone, aren't they?" She wanted know.

He shook his head, no as if that would be too much to ask.

"But they'll want to keep tabs on you." She informed him.

He pointed to the ankle bracelet then. She'd forgotten about that.

"Tell, them..you have to have a phone." They needed to stay connected.

"What for?" He shrugged. He told her he'd never used one.

"I know." All the times she'd wanted to hear from him. She sighed.

"All right." He gave in. "I'll ask, but don't get your hopes up."

She pressed her lips tight with a nod as she smoothed out her new maternity top. Benny actually took her shopping at the mall. She'd finally bought something from Love21. Actually, Benny bought the crisscross back tank and maternity shorts for her. He'd let her choose a hankerchief hem top too.

Of course, Trevor didn't seem to notice she was wearing anything new. She could have worn a trash sack and he wouldn't have said anything. But at the moment he was playing with toes. She'd taken off her flipflops. He kept staring at the silver nail polish.

"Why are you wearing a ring on your toe?" He asked out of the blue.

"It was too big for my finger." She simply said hoping he'd stop with the questions.

"You actually, painted your toe-nails?" Was his next question.

Fergie glared at him. She wasn't sure she wanted to tell him. Simon painted her toenails.
