here we go

"I dunno if I like this at all." Simon kept a grim face as he shivered slightly. He swore the old house was much colder inside than outside.

Fergie let him in the back way while Sage and Gage were setting up for trick or treaters.

"Man up, will you?' Fergie gave him a disgusted look. Simon wished he could turn around and go home. He had no business being here. Especially, with Fergie. What did she ever do for him? He gazed at her even lipped. Why couldn't he find someone like her that loved him? Was he not meant to be in this world with anyone?

"Look, Trev is not even here. He's at work." Fergie promised there was nothing to be scared about. "I need you to go to the attic."

"The attic?" Simon practically wailed. "You said nothing about the attic." He shook his head, no.

"I'll let you touch my boobs, if you go." She sounded as if it were the best treat ever for Halloween. Simon only scowled.

"I wish you, hadn't said that." His frown swelled more, as he thought on it. "All right." He heard himself saying, but wishing he hadn't in the next breath. What sort of weak fool, was he?

"Good." Her smile was so welcoming as she looped her arm around his. "Well, no time like the present."

He felt her fingers tug at him. Oh, how he wished they were doing something else than looking for ghost in the attic.

She pulled down the little bottled up stairs from the ceiling, there in the hallway, just off the kitchen. They sprang down as if they were ready if he were.

Simon took a deep breath.

"Well, go on." She pushed him. He held on to the flash light. Still he hesitated, but up he went to investigate.

To his surprise, it was hot in the attic. There was lot of pink padding of installation.

"This is stupid." He told her, getting the reality of it. She was an idiot. There were so many smarter girls out there. What was she expecting? A treasure? The ghost of Elvis? "You're totally ridiculous." He told her as he instantly came down. "Its installed, completely.  What this old place needs is new windows, maybe even knew walls." He looked around. There were no ghosts. "Whats really going on?"

"I don't think I like it here." She hugged herself.

Simon saw her sad eyes. He couldn't resist but push a strand of the long lock in her eye, behind her ear. He knew she was homesick. Instantly, his eyes watered.

"I'm taking you to your mother, you two are going to work it out." He knew what this was about. "When is the last time you two talked?"

She shrugged as she began to cry.

Simon sighed as she hugged him hard. It didn't matter if he got the bitter end of all her fixes. It was worth it. After all, she was his best friend.

She seems the type to never talk about her emotions.
