Spencer felt a little in limbo.
He couldn't say Manny was exactly playing cupid, nor that old woman who seemed so keen on Asher. At least, Asher and Spencer did meet up at a bar to talk, which he guessed was OK.
"Um, you're not exactly who I'm looking for." Asher finally admitted over a beer. "I just like to tease Manny, anyway. He seems lonely, you know." Asher told Spencer.. they were too much a like.
It hurt a little. But truth be told, it was a bit of a relief to know Asher wasn't exactly crazy with the idea of being fixed up.
"I'll know it when I see it." Asher smiled as if he wasn't offended that Spencer didn't take an immediate fancy to him.
"I just got out of a relationship." Spencer shrugged. Except, he felt in a rut of some kind. "Sorry, if..if I sound, kind of bummed."
"Hey, at least you've had one." Asher sounded as if to shrug it off and go on. Perhaps learn from your mistakes and try again. Just not with him. Asher told him he thought maybe his standards were too high. That was why it hadn't happened yet. "Or, I just annoy everyone."
"Well, you don't annoy me." Spencer told him he'd be glad to go out with him again. Still, he wasn't so sure if he actually wanted to go clubbing with him. Spencer had to admit he'd rather be with be Em, but he didn't bring it up. He was pretty sure those days were over. She was spending more time with Manny lately, even if it were just buying groceries or helping Manny with his little one.
It was best to leave them alone. Let Manny and Em have more time to go out with Cory and Allie. Maybe that's why Spencer hooked up with the bartender that night after Asher went home.
