it wasn't that long ago

"So, how are you feeling?" Lucy watched Allie with the baby who was so plump and pink, already.

A part of her really wanted to hold the baby, but she wouldn't. It was just something about babies that made her so happy she could just cry. She wished she didn't like that feeling.

"You want another one, don't you?" Allie eyed her then even if she were cuddling her infant son in bed.

"No." Lucy was adamant. "I do not want another baby."

"Oh really?" Allie smiled, who seemed at home in the big bed in her and Cory's bedroom.

"No, one is plenty." Lucy set at the edge of the bed. "But I'm really going to be taking all the precautions more seriously now..since..you know..you didn't even know you were pregnant."

"Don't make me sound so oblivious." Allie sighed. "I was working, and I'd come home and cook and I clean."

"You definitely need to let Cory do more of the cooking and the cleaning now." Lucy told her.

"Angie isn't even here." Allie missed her. She told Lucy about Manny and Em moving in with Spencer. "You know, Bucky's in jail."

"Yeah, I heard about that. I didn't even get to know the guy, but he was a gay bartender, I don't think we would have much in common, anyway." Lucy shrugged.

"I hope Spencer finds somebody good now," Allie said. "I mean, my daughter is living there."

"So how long are you going to let Manny keep Angie?" Lucy looked at Allie and thought of Sarah and her situation with Craig. She knew Sarah would never let Craig keep Jake.

"She'd be home tomorrow, if I had my way, but really, I'm fortunate that Manny even lets me see her. And I'm glad we're friends." She told Lucy.

"How is Cory with this one?" She eyed the baby who was in a lull in Allie's arms.

"Very timid. He's even afraid to change a diaper, but he's coming around. I guess." Allie sounded as if he needed to do a little more Daddy duty.

"Well, you know, he's not the most experienced guy in the world." Lucy reminded her as she helped get the baby to the little crib in Allie's room. "Before you, it was just me. And believe me, it was awkward." She couldn't help but laugh. "Really, awkward with Cory. So I think if you keep him in line, he just might surprise you."

Lucy did have to admit she was glad Cory found Allie. When she thought about the boy she'd dated, he was very much just a boy.
